Many OSHA regulations are written in general language leaving the particulars up to the employer on how to comply. The employer is expected to use consensus standards to aid in selection of the best technique to achieve compliance with the OSHA regulations. While NFPA 70E® is not a federal regulation, it is a "how to comply" consensus standard for OSHA regulations regarding electrical safety. OSHA 29 CFR 1910 Subpart S Appendix A states that NFPA 70E® can be helpful in understanding and complying with the requirements of Subpart S - Electrical. In 2003, a OSHA "Standards Interpretation" letter stated that industry consensus standards such as NFPA 70E® may be used as evidence that a hazard is "recognized".

• Personal protective equipment (PPE) selection, in-service care and use

• Guidelines for shock and flash hazard analysis

• Shock and flash protection boundaries

• Lockout/tagout requirements

• General installation safety requirements and electrical safe work practices

• Qualified and unqualified personnel requirements

Who Should Attend
Designed for any personnel involved in working, directly or indirectly, on or around voltages of 50 volts or more. Students will receive the current NFPA 70E Standard text. Meets the mandated training requirements of NFPA 70E^®, OSHA 29 CFR 1910.332, and the NEC^® Article 100 definition of qualified personnel.

Requirements
Requires working knowledge of basic electricity.
