FIBER OPTIC SPLICING AND TESTING, ADVANCED

4.5 days
3.6 CEUs
Hands-on
8:00am - 4:30pm, the final day ends at 12:00pm

Tuition USD $1825

This comprehensive, hands-on course is designed for field personnel involved in the installation and maintenance of fiber optic cable systems. Successful completion of this course leads to FOA Advanced Fiber Optic Technician Certification. Fiber Optic Splicing and Testing combines lectures and laboratory sessions to give the participant both usable background information and practical experience in the splicing, terminating and testing of fiber optic cable systems. Applicable ANSI, TIA and EIA standards will be covered. Participants perform fusion and mechnical splices on single-mode and multi-mode fiber with state-of-the-art equipment. Connector installation labs provide the participant with the techniques to install various fiber optic connectors. Splice loss and end-to-end loss measurements are performed using power meters, light souces and optical time domain reflectometers. Participants perform splicing and testing lab exercises under the supervision of "field experienced" instructors who are certified by The Fiber Optic Association.
