Learning Objectives
•Hazards, handling and testing techniques for SF₆ in compliance with ASTM, ANSI/IEEE and NETA standards

•Identify components and nameplate data for SF₆ dual pressure and puffer-type circuit breakers

•Perform maintenance and adjustments on operating mechanisms as required by manufacturer

•Understand the process of inspecting and overhauling SF₆ puffers and interrupters

•Perform the following tests on SF₆ circuit breakers in lab: contact resistance, insulation resistance, power factor and hi-pot

•Understand troubleshooting methods that can reduce unscheduled downtime

•Review electrical line diagrams

Designed for technicians, engineers, and supervisors that are responsible for the maintenance and testing of SF₆ circuit breakers.

Requirements
Requires working knowledge of basic electricity. Field experience is beneficial, but not required. Students must wear safety toe shoes.
