4 days
3.2 CEUs
Lecture
8:00am-4:30pm

Tuition USD $1175

Electrical hazards, specifically shock, arc flash, and arc blast, can result in serious injury or death to employees that work on or around electrical equipment in industrial facilities. Work environments that create the potential for these events put everyone, including owners and contractors, at risk. To ensure an electrically safe workplace personnel must understand electrical safety standards and regulations, adhere to an established electrical safety program, understand electrical hazards, safe work procedures, protective equipment, and improving electrical system safety through design. An essential part of any electrical safety program is training. OSHA 1910.332(b)(1) requires training for electrical safety-related work practices. This requirement applies to both qualified and unqualified personnel, and the degree of training is based upon their respective job assignments.

•Electrical hazards and safety procedures for working on/around metal-clad switchgear, substations, motor control centers and facility electrical systems

•In-service care and use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)

•Energized and de-energized work procedures such as minimum approach distances and lockout/tagout requirements

•Temporary and permanent grounding systems and specific equipment hazards

•OSHA 29 CFR 1910.331-335, .269, .303, .137, and .147
